Fan the flames through May 27 at Theatre Artists Studio as it presents “Hot,” a unique exploration of the word through dance and music. “Hot” involves many Chandler residents and is an original musical by Fox Crossing resident Karen Burns. Act I features the dancers of “Burns It Up,” who ignite the stage with such numbers as “Cell Block Tango,” “Hot Blooded” and “Too Darn Hot.” “Burns It Up” is a nonprofit organization offering classes for children and adults privately, as well as through the Heat Wave Dance Academy in Chandler. In Act II, celebrate the New York cabaret scene with Shana Bousard, co-founder of TML Arts. Step out of the taxi and into the cabaret hall, where the lights are dim and the tables set with a single flame. Reminiscent of the infamous “Don’t Tell Mama’s” in the heart of Manhattan’s Restaurant Row, Bousard is joined by the talents of Joe Bousard on piano, Scott Hay on drums and Lee Gendvilas on Bass.
